How the Who's Who Online® Registration Process Works

How do I register my profile?
To register your profile, simply enter your information into the form (exactly as you'd like for it to appear in the registry) and select "Submit This Data" (at the bottom) when you have finished.
I don't have all this information right now. What should I do?
If you would rather not complete the form now, bookmark the page and stop back at your convenience. Or just fill-in your name AND your e-mail address in the field directly below the name fields where it specifically requests you enter it for this purpose so we can e-mail you the form.
Can I view other profiles before I register?
Sure, we encourage you! You may look at some other entries, of individuals who are profiled in this registry to see how they have phrased their entries and, in some cases, let their personalities "shine through" while working within the structure of this data entry format.
Who is the producer of Who's Who Online®?
John J. McCabe. If you're interested in knowing more about him, you may view his Who's Who Online® Home Page.
What if I don't want to answer certain questions?
You may decline to answer some questions if you wish; however, please complete as many as possible, especially the "searchable" fields, which are indicated by a %.
I don't have/don't care to enter data in certain fields. What will my page look like?
If you'd rather a category/header NOT be included on your page, simply leave the buttons and data fields blank; if you select a button or insert "none" or "N/A" you will generate a header - as well any text you key in - where there need not be anything.
Why am I being asked to provide my home phone number?
On occasion, people make typographical errors that are obvious, and we're happy to fix them. At other times, we may be uncertain as to what meaning was intended, making us reluctant to edit without clarification. We normally would contact prospective Members by E-mail; having a telephone contact is a backup measure. (Only the Webmaster currently has access to "locked-out" data - not even the producer has access at this time.)
Is all the information requested included in a free listing?
You are being asked to provide only information that is included in a free profile (with the exception of home phone, which is never listed).
If I proceed with my registration, what does it mean?
By proceeding to register for Who's Who Online®, you agree that any information you provide is correct to the best of your knowledge, that the data belongs to you and is not subject to copyright by a third party, and that Who's Who Global NetWork shall have a non-exclusive right to disclose information in the "Professional" and "Personal" Data Fields (and in the "three (3) "Private Data Fields" if you do not select the "lock-out" option) to any and all third parties.
Will Who's Who Online® be offering my data for sale?
No, access to the registry is not "for sale" at any price. But we're talking about digitally-presenting your profile on the World Wide Web, so we need a pretty broad scope of permission. That's why we say, "to any and all third parties."
Can I correct my entry if I make an error?
This is the 21st century equivalent to typesetting: please key data carefully and be sure to use capital letters to begin all proper nouns unless they are normally written entirely in lower case. If you catch an error immediately after submitting the data (when you "search" your record), go back immediately and rekey the data. We'll look at the most recent entry, and delete the earlier one, provided that they are entered on the same date.
Who will own the copyright to my Who's Who Online® "home page"?
You will own the copyright to your own profile.
If accepted for inclusion, for how long will my profile be included on-site?
When you select "Submit This Data," you should be prepared for the profile you submit to be searchable on the site - as entered - for the following year. At about that time, you'll receive e-mail from us advising you to re-register with updated information. Profiles older than thirteen (13) months may automatically be purged from the main database, so that outdated information is not retrieved by our site visitors (although they may be available in an archive section.)
What happens when I choose to "Submit This Data"?
If you enter a primary e-mail address or any URL that is invalid, or fail to enter data for "searchable" fields (preceded by a %) your submission may be rejected by the server.
I submitted my data and got a message that said, "You have successfully registered," what does this mean?
This means that the server accepted your submission, and that you will be able to search in Who's Who Online® and find your profile for exactly fifteen (15) minutes from that point in time. The page will then go into review for exactly one week, during which time it will not be searchable on-site.
What happens next?
After you submit data, and the server accepts it, you might receive a message at your primary e-mail address requesting that you confirm that you did, in fact, complete this entry. If you do not reply to this e-mail according to instructions, your profile will NOT be included in Who's Who Online®! Once you reply to our e-mail message confirming that you did complete the registration, your page will be reviewed by the producer.
What is the "screening process" all about?
The screening process is when the production staff reviews the content of each entry. We don't restrict what you can or cannot enter, but the producer reserves the right to deny publication of any entry that is not in keeping with expectations of a Who's Who listing. The publisher operates on the principal that Sponsors and Members, upon whom the site depends for its survival, are not interested in being associated with obscenity, pornography, hate speech or other content that does not contribute to a sense of community on the site.
What's this I hear about membership?
When your profile is included in this registry, you'll become a Who's Who Online® Member. Once you're a Member, you may display the Who's Who Online® logo on your personal homepage with a link to this site. You may do so at any time after your profile has been accepted, but please not before.
