Caribbean Fashion Carnivale - A Sourcing Trade Show

For the Jamaica National Export Corporation, and its successor, JAMPRO - Jamaica's Economic Development Agency, International Trade Promotion, Ltd. conceived, planned and produced the "Caribbean Fashion Carnivale - A Sourcing Trade Show" to attract buyers and trade journalists to visit Jamaica so that they could see the country's garment manufacturing capabilities.

The event was tremendously successful and today, apparel manufacturing is the largest non-government source of employment on the island. Particularly instrumental was our marketing program, which centered on a piece of festive artwork and a coordinated project identity campaign. The editor of the U.K.'s International Textiles liked it so much, he reproduced it on the cover of his magazine!

In fact, while imitation may be the highest form of flattery, being "knocked off" commercially really floored us! John McCabe stumbled across this particular transgression while flipping through the Quelle catalog during a business trip to Hong Kong.)

The event was repeated the following year, and the artwork had a similar theme. Drawn by the success of the first event, a crew from the BBC's "Clothes Show" attended and taped what would become a half-hour segment on Jamaica's fashion industries. The Clothes Show regularly attracts some 7.7 million U.K. viewers. When you add to that viewership from re-runs and overseas syndication, we conclude that our client received outstanding exposure.
